Label two sofa covers A and B, and allow each cover to occupy only one state: on the sofa, waiting to wash, washing or fully dry. That small rule prevents the common wash-day gap in which the sofa is uncovered while the spare is missing or still damp.
Set up the rotation once
Choose a clean, pet-inaccessible shelf or bag for the ready cover. Mark both covers in a way that will survive normal handling, and photograph their labels or distinguishing details. Check the care information for each cover individually; matching purpose does not guarantee matching care.
Water Resistant Reversible Comfy Sofa Cover is a current cover example. Confirm its live sizing and care details before making it one half of a rotation.
Wash-day handoff
- Bring the ready cover to the room before removing the used one.
- Remove loose pet hair in the manner allowed for the cover.
- Fit the ready cover and check that seating remains usable.
- Move the used cover to its wash state.
- After washing, keep it out of the “ready” location until it is fully dry.
A card the whole household can follow
Put a four-line card near the storage spot: “Cover on sofa / Cover waiting / Cover washing / Cover ready.” Move the A and B markers rather than relying on memory. Add one note for repairs or stains so a problem is not rediscovered on the next change.
Before starting the system on moving furniture, use Before Covering a Recliner or Sofa Bed, Check This to check whether access or motion changes the way the cover must be fitted.
